Missing Texas woman found in Laredo after allegedly being kidnapped by unhoused man

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - A North Texas woman who police suspected was kidnapped on Thursday near Dallas was found in Laredo.
According to the DeSoto Police Department, Lacey Lyn Overby was found in Laredo about 12 a.m. Friday.
On Thursday, authorities issued a CLEAR Alert which is a missing persons alert for adults, after Overby was seen purchasing a meal for a man who appeared to be unhoused on Thursday in Desoto, Texas.
Several Texas media outlets are reporting Overby was driving her car to a port of entry in Laredo.
KGNS was at a Laredo Port of Entry around the same time Thursday night leading to Friday morning where a woman was seen taken into an ambulance.
Laredo Police and U.S Border Patrol were unable to confirm if the activity KGNS filmed at the port of entry Thursday night/ Friday morning was of Overby located.
However, Laredo Police did confirm to KGNS she was found alone at the bridge, taken to a hospital and her family arrived at Laredo.
The investigation continues.
LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) - A car crash causes traffic congestion on Loop 20 Friday morning.
The crash happened on Feb. 2, 2024 at around 8 a.m. near Loop 20 and Saunders.
According to Laredo Police, a multiple vehicle crash was reported at the location.
Authorities are advising drivers in the area to expect potential delays while crews clear the area.
No word on any injuries at the moment.
Man and woman caught stealing purses, perfumes and liquor from downtown stores, police say

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - A man and a woman who have had previous run-ins with the law are allegedly caught stealing from local businesses.
Laredo Police arrested Ernesto Carmona, 39, and Angela Marie Barron, 38.
The incident happened on Thursday morning when Laredo Police received a call about multiple burglaries near the downtown area.
Police say Carmona and Barron allegedly stole perfumes, purses, and liquor bottles from stores such as the Fashion Outlet and the UETA Duty-Free shop.
After reviewing surveillance footage, police were able to identify Carmona and Barron as the culprits.
Officers actively patrolled the downtown area and located Carmona and Barron who were detained without incident.
Police say Carmona has been arrested a total of 53 times, and Barron has been arrested eight times.
Laredo Police searching for man accused of forging check of nearly $2,000

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - Authorities need your help locating a man wanted for forgery.
Laredo Police need your help locating Francisco Javier Vargas, 33, who has two pending warrants of forgery and theft of property.
The incident was reported on Oct. 20, 2023, when Laredo Police received a call about a theft at the 1400 block of Wingfoot Loop.
The victim told officers that someone had fraudulently cashed a check of $1,933 without her permission.
After investigating the claims, it was discovered that the signature on the check had been forged and was made out to a Vargas who is believed to be the suspect in the case.
Investigators presented the case to the District Attorney’s Office, where a warrant was approved for Vargas’s arrest signed by Judge D. Dominguez.

LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) - Federal agents seize over $3.6 million in hard narcotics at two of Laredo’s port of entry.
The first seizure happened on Thursday, Jan. 25 at the Juarez- Lincoln Bridge when a CBP Officer referred a commercial bus for a secondary inspection.
It was there that officers discovered 129 pounds of alleged cocaine inside a bus.
Two days later, officers at the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge referred a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado manifesting a shipment of “Molcajetes” for a secondary inspection.
Officers discovered 82 pounds of alleged cocaine, 77 pounds of alleged methamphetamine, and 4.5 pounds of alleged fentanyl.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized the drugs and the bus and the case was turned over to Homeland Security.
Laredo Police arrest man in connection to shooting outside Ojos Locos

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - A man is arrested for an alleged shooting outside a Laredo sports bar that left one person injured.
On Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, Laredo Police arrested Angel Perez Zapata, 42, at the intersection of South U.S. Highway 83 and Soria Drive for an outstanding warrant for two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The shooting was reported on Saturday, Jan. 20 outside a sports bar at the 5300 block of San Dario at around 11:30 p.m.
According to the Laredo Police, a group of men began to argue, which escalated into a physical fight which resulted in the men being escorted out of the sports bar.
Once the men were outside, two of them got into a vehicle, circled back as the other pair of men were getting into a car and discharged a firearm twice towards the ground.
A 39-year-old man was injured in the abdomen.
He was treated on the scene while the suspects fled.
No life-threatening injuries were reported.
A week later, authorities were able to identify Perez Zapata as the suspect and make an arrest.
