SAN ANTONIO, TX. (CNN) - Twelve migrants were found huddled in the back of a stolen 18-wheeler in San Antonio, Texas Wednesday.
The migrants, two women and 10 men were from Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico.
They all appeared to be in good health but were being checked out by EMS as a precaution.
Police say they realized the 18-wheeler was stolen after they ran the license plate.
“That was a short chase. And finally they pulled over, they found the driver with a gun and they pulled him out, took him into custody and they found 12 illegal aliens that were being smuggled in the and the vehicle,” Lieutenant Mendez with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, who has not been identified was detained.
Man wanted for allegedly stealing brisket and bottled water from grocery stores

LAREDO, Tx (KGNS) - Authorities need your help locating a man accused of stealing brisket and bottled water from several different stores around town.
Laredo Police are searching for Eduardo Lerma, 52, who is wanted for four pending arrest warrants for theft of property.
The four cases were reported throughout the month of June and July when Laredo Police received a call regarding three separate thefts at different stores.
According to police, a loss prevention specialist at the Walmart located at 2615 NE Bob Bullock Loop stated that a man identified as Lerma went into the store and taken several items including brisket and bottled water with a total amount of $1,090.
Officers say Lerma also stole another six packs of brisket and a 12 pack of water from the H-E-B located at 210 Del Mar.
The investigation was turned over to the District Attorney’s Office where they approved the four warrants for Lerma’s arrest.

Texas state trooper accuses border officials of inhumane treatment of migrants

(CNN) - Troopers at the Texas border were reportedly told to push migrants back into the river and deny them drinking water.
The Texas Department of Public Safety shared an e-mail from a trooper-medic to a supervisor expressing concerns over the quote “Inhumane” treatment of migrants.
The trooper wrote that they were quote “Given orders to push the people back into the water to go to Mexico” and were also ordered not to give water to the migrants.
The e-mail is a report of weekly events and operational concerns from June 24 to July first, while the officer worked as a trooper-medic.
When asked about the situation, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson said the office of the inspector general is investigating the incident.
The Texas National Guard has not commented yet.

(NBC DFW) - The trial for a teen accused of shooting several people at a north Texas high school is underway.
On Tuesday, prosecutors showed dramatic video they say shows the moments when a student opened fire in a 2021 shooting.
Prosecutors say Timothy Simpkins opened fire inside and outside of a classroom in Mansfield’s Timberview High School.
Thankfully no one was killed, but three people were injured.
Investigators said Simpkins was involved in a fight with another classmate in the classroom.
Witnesses say right after he lost the fight, Simpkins drew a gun and started to open fire.
Prosecutors said the student Simpkins was fighting ran off, but he chased him in the hallway and shot him.
Simpkins has pleaded not guilty to the crime.
Simpkins faces multiple charges of attempted capital murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and unlawful carrying of a weapon in a prohibited place.
LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) - Authorities are investigating the death of a person whose body was found in downtown Laredo.
The incident was reported on Tuesday, July 18, at around 11 p.m. near 1300 Pedregal St right next to Tres Laredos Park.
According to a witness at the scene, at least one person was taken into custody by Border Patrol and one person was found deceased under the bridge.
The Laredo Fire Department received the call from Border Patrol about a deceased male at the scene.
Border Patrol, Laredo Police and fire officials were seen assessing the situation.
Officials were seen covering the deceased.
