Sean “Diddy” Combs placed on suicide watch

NEW YORK (NBC) - Accused sex trafficker, Sean “Diddy” Combs, is on a “procedural” suicide watch.
The 54-year-old music mogul is being held in federal custody in New York as he awaits trial on three felony counts tied to more than a decade of alleged abuse.
According to a source familiar with the situation, the Metropolitan Detention Center guards are closely monitoring Combs.
The source described the policy as “procedural with high-profile clients.”
On Wednesday, September 18, a judge denied Combs’s appeal for bail.
Combs currently faces a three-count felony indictment.
LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - An off-duty federal agent is facing charges following a crash in Central Laredo.
On Thursday, September 19, Laredo Police arrested 49-year-old Bryan Douglas Ramsey in this case.
The crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. near HWY 83 and Market St.
Officers arrived at the scene and found two cars involved in the crash.
According to police, Ramsey was given a sobriety test and told officers he was a Border Patrol Agent.
Ramsey was later charged with driving while intoxicated.
In a statement sent to KGNS by Customs and Border Protection, they were able to confirm an employee’s arrest.
The statement goes on to say that the incident is under review by the agency and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Juan Carlos Mendoza, the General Consul of Mexico in Laredo, gave a rousing ‘grito’ in downtown Laredo to help commemorate 16 de Septiembre, Mexican Independence Day, on Saturday night.
The area was festively decorated in green, red, and white for Mexican Independence Day, which falls on Monday, September 16.
The celebrations kicked off on Sunday evening and were highlighted by the “El Grito” ceremony, marking the culmination of the festivities.
LFD: Elderly couple and child among several rescued during weekend storm

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo first responders reported at least six water rescues on Saturday night.
Two of these incidents occurred at Springfield Avenue and Del Mar, where a vehicle with a child on board became stuck in high water.
Another rescue involved an elderly couple trapped in their car. Later that night, responders assisted two adults at the intersection of Sanchez Street and Flores Avenue. Fortunately, Laredo police confirmed that no severe injuries were reported on Saturday night or Sunday.
LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Downtown Laredo will be the site of multiple events featuring a parade, food and a celebration of Mexican independence.
The festivities will begin Saturday, September 14, and end Sunday, September 15, with all three events in Downtown Laredo.
The events begin with the Bi-National Parade organized by Laredo’s First Lady, Rosa Marquez de Trevino.
The parade begins at 9 a.m. starting at Iturbide and Convent St. moving along Victoria St. San Bernardo Ave. and ending at the LISD main offices on Garden St.
For Marquez de Trevino, the initiative to organize this parade was to help solidify the relationship between Laredo and Nuevo Laredo and to also help the downtown area.
“If we want to bring life back to the downtown area, we need to have events and activities that are family-friendly like this parade,” said Marquez de Trevino.
A couple of blocks down at the Tres Laredos Park, the City of Laredo is holding a flavorful celebration with the ‘Festival del Antojo Avocado Edition’.
Joe Baeza with the Laredo Police Department says people should expect heavy traffic delays and has the following advice for the community.
“If you go out there, make sure you don’t leave things out in your vehicle that will get somebody tempted to steal the items in your car. Lock your car, and don’t leave your keys in your car. If drinking is part of the plan, make sure that you designate a person to be a sober driver,” said Baeza.
The final event is the annual El Grito celebration at El Portal, just a few steps away from Bridge One.
The celebrations will conclude with the consul performing the traditional “El Grito” at 8 p.m.
LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has released its investigation into the Uvalde school shooting that occurred in May 2022 at Robb Elementary School.
In a statement, CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility shared its comprehensive review of the agency’s response to the tragic event. The nearly 2,000-page report concluded that none of the CBP personnel on the scene violated any rules, regulations, or laws.
Corrective actions following the incident will include strengthening incident command practices, improving training, and other measures. Earlier this week, the Department of Homeland Security briefed the families of the 21 victims on the release of these documents.
Laredo Police arrest man for burglary of building, theft at San Bernardo Ave. pawn shop

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo Police responded to a burglary call early Thursday morning at a pawn shop on the 4500 block of San Bernardo Avenue. A caller reported that a man had broken into the shop and stolen weed eaters.
Officers quickly identified and arrested 43-year-old Francisco Martinez as the suspect. Martinez now faces charges of burglary of a building and theft.
Man arrested in Laredo for robbery, faces potential charges in California

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A man arrested in Laredo may have additional charges pending in California.
The man, 32-year-old Javier Ponciano, was apprehended Monday in connection with an alleged robbery that occurred on Sunday at Las Brisas Park, located in the 1000 block of International Blvd. Reports indicate that a woman and her child were approached and allegedly robbed at gunpoint by a man who then fled in a white SUV.
Police tracked down the suspect and identified Ponciano, who was found in possession of the stolen items. Ponciano was also served with an outstanding warrant from California for parole violations.
Fortunately, none of the victims were injured in the incident.
LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A man was arrested for allegedly stealing a tractor truck on Monday.
According to the Laredo Police Department, Carlos Mata, 31, was arrested after allegedly stealing a tractor Monday evening. The incident began when officers were flagged down in the 4700 block of South U.S. Highway 83. A witness informed officers about the situation, and shortly after, a call helped locate the stolen tractor heading south on the highway.
Mata attempted to flee on foot after abandoning the tractor, leading officers on a brief chase. The Auto Theft Task Force took over the investigation, and Mata was arrested, and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
