New Webb Co. Sheriff’s Office building in need of over $2 million worth of repairs

WEBB COUNTY, TX. (KGNS) - The future Webb County Sheriff’s Office building has hit a wall and may require over two million dollars to fix.
During Monday’s Webb Commissioners Court, Frank Architects spoke to commissioners about some of the necessary repairs needed to move forward with the project.
Not only does the entire roof need to be replaced, but the facility needs new generators, and the elevators need to be refurbished.
Commissioner John Galo said the county is going to look at the design report and see if they can get potential new bids for the roof.
“Depending on how fast we can get a contractor, most of the leaks have been resolved temporarily, they weren’t permanent fix they were just temporary fixes,” said Galo. “Now the roof where the air conditioners are missing, like I said we already had a bid on that for 375,000, we’re going to see if the new consultant agrees with that work, if he does then we can proceed with that rather quickly and I don’t anticipate that taking too long.”
Galo adds that they are still waiting on generators that were supposed to be delivered by October of 2023 but were delayed, which he attributed to supply chain issues.
Engineers involved in the project said that it would take roughly four to six weeks to know what other repairs are pending.
Galo said they are aiming to move into the building by May.
