Encinal Police foil human smuggling attempt on Good Friday

ENCINAL, TX. (KGNS) - Authorities in Encinal foiled a human smuggling attempt on Good Friday.

It happened at around 9 a.m. after they came across a car that was believed to be headed for Seguin, Texas.

Everyone in the car including the driver were identified as being in the country illegally from Mexico.

They were all turned over to Border Patrol for processing.

Man allegedly found in possession of fentanyl arrested

RIO BRAVO, TX . (KGNS) - As local authorities continue to crack down on the fentanyl crisis, Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies arrest a man in possession of the deadly drug.

The Webb County Sheriff’s Office arrested Juan Francisco Sias, 39, on April 6 at a home located at 1100 Paseo de Tiber in Rio Bravo.

The sheriff’s office narcotics unit and SWAT launched an investigation after multiple reports of narcotics and fentanyl overdoses in Rio Bravo and El Cenizo.

During their operation, authorities found Sias in possession of 0.6 grams of a white powdery substance that later tested positive for fentanyl.

Sias was charged with possession and taken to the Webb County Jail.

Recently, there have been 13 overdoses in the area, resulting in one death.

The sheriff’s office urges residents to report illegal activity by calling 956-415-BUST (2878).

Houston man arrested on human smuggling charges in Encinal

ENCINAL, TX . (KGNS) - Encinal Police got into a high-speed chase earlier this week.

It happened on Tuesday while they were helping Border Patrol agents on I-35.

The car then came to a sudden stop on mile marker 44.

Five undocumented immigrants were caught without further incident along with the driver.

He was identified as a man from Houston.

He was taken into Border Patrol custody on human smuggling charges.

18-year-old fatally stabbed behind San Antonio restaurant

SAN ANTONIO, TX. (WOAI) - An 18-year-old boy has died after being stabbed in the stomach during an argument behind a restaurant near a San Antonio high school.

The deadly incident happened on Tuesday just before 2 p.m.

Police said the suspect and the teenager started arguing inside the restaurant before leaving and to the back of the business.

The argument escalated into a fight which led to the suspect pulling out a knife and stabbing the teen in the stomach.

The suspect then ran off.

The teenager, who is a senior at the high school, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but he later died from his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

Laredo Police: Man wanted for murder, another accomplice arrested

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Laredo Police Department has arrested a man in connection to the third homicide of the year, but they are releasing a picture of a second man who investigators say caused it.

Laredo police are looking for 19-year-old Juan Jose Rivera. He is wanted for the murder of Juan Humberto Zuazua. Zuazua’s body was found by police Monday, March 27 on the 3800 block of McPherson Road. Police confirm Zuazua was stabbed.

According to police, Rivera is at large and considered dangerous. If you have any information on Rivera’s whereabouts you are asked to call the police at 956-795-2800.

The other man allegedly connected to the case is 24-year-old Hector Tovar. Tovar is believed to have been with Rivera at the time of the murder. He was arrested on Friday, March 31 on charges of failure to report a felony.
