ZAPATA COUNTY, TX (KGNS) - A two-vehicle crash is reported on the northbound lane of Highway 83 Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened in Zapata County near Dolores Bridge.
Preliminary reports indicate, the heavy construction prevented the driver of a red passenger vehicle from seeing a vehicle that was stalled on the highway.
Thankfully no injuries were reported, and no one was transported to the hospital.
Officials say the person in the red car was from Roma, Texas.
Armed man arrested after barricading himself in home with two daughters, Laredo Police say

LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) - An armed man is in police custody after he allegedly barricaded himself inside a home with his two daughters.
Laredo Police arrested Agustin Zuniga, 46, in the case.
Authorities were called out to the 100 block of East Elm Street Tuesday, April 23 at around 2:19 a.m. for a man who was drunk and waving a gun around.
Officers saw Zuniga at the scene, who then barricaded himself inside a house with his two daughters inside.
After multiple attempts, officers were able to convince Zuniga to come out of the house and surrender.
According to initial reports, Zuniga became drunk which led to an argument and a domestic assault.
Zuniga was charged six counts of terrorist threats and assault.
Man arrested for reckless driving and evading arrest, Laredo Police say

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - A man is arrested for driving more than 40 miles per hour over the speed limit, failing to stop and putting others in danger, according to Laredo Police.
The incident happened on Monday, April 22, a little after midnight when officers observed a truck speeding on Guadalupe Street while disregarding stop lights and stop signs.
When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver failed to stop and continued speeding.
Officers were eventually able to locate the vehicle and charge Oscar Lara, 28, with reckless driving and evading arrest.
Three people arrested after crashing into school fence while trying to evade arrest

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - Three people are facing charges for allegedly evading arrest and causing damage to a local elementary school.
Laredo Police arrested Abraham Gonzalez, 25, Isidro Medina, 22, and Kaylee Faith Orozco, 20.
The incident happened before midnight Saturday when officers received a call about a fight near Leonardo Avenue and Gonzalez Street.
When officers arrived, three people got into a car and drove off; however, they were eventually found after they crashed into the fence of Bruni Elementary School.
All three individuals were arrested.
Woman accused of hitting 15-year-old cyclist with vehicle arrested, Laredo Police say

LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) - A woman is arrested in connection to a hit and run crash that left a 15-year-old cyclist injured over the weekend.
Laredo Police have arrested Stephanie Vara, 23, and charged her with accident involving injuries.
The incident happened on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at around 2 p.m. at the 1200 block of Willow Street in south Laredo.
When paramedics arrived, they found a 15-year-old disoriented and confused.
Inv. Joe Baeza, with the Laredo Police Department, tells us, “The child could have possibly lost her life—there was no doubt about it. The impact was quite strong and anytime you’re in a residential neighborhood, you do have children on bicycles. It’s the weekend, so they’re out there, it’s daylight, it’s warm it’s a super nice day, you need to slow down in neighborhoods.”
The victim was taken to LMC in critical but stable condition.
Police say a 2018 Chevy vehicle allegedly fled the scene but was identified the next day.
Authorities put out an alert on the police department’s Facebook page and later Vara was identified and arrested.
She was arrested on Monday at approximately 12:49 p.m.
Man wanted for embezzling nearly $350,000 arrested at Laredo port entry

LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) - A man wanted for allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a private business is turned over to Laredo Police.
David Eliud Buendia was arrested Saturday at one of Laredo’s port of entries while coming into the U.S.
The case started back in Feb. when allegations were made that an employee of the human resources department of a private business was embezzling money from terminated employees by depositing their wages into his account.
Over $340,000 were allegedly taken by Buendia, according to the Crimes Against Property Investigators.
Buendia is facing charges of theft.

The atmosphere will begin to slowly dry out Monday with rain ending, a few breaks in the clouds are possible late in the day. The return of winds from the southeast will lead to warmer weather beginning Tuesday, and rather hot weather by late week.
