17-Year-Old arrested in Thanksgiving morning shooting

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo police have arrested Tito Ramirez, 17, in connection with a shooting that occurred on Thanksgiving morning.

The incident happened near the 2300 block of Newport Avenue, where officers found a 50-year-old man driving a gray Honda Pilot SUV that had been fired upon. The victim sustained injuries to his face and hip and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Ramirez faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Traffic stop leads to drug possession arrest, Sheriff’s office says

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A routine traffic stop on Highway 359 near Willow Oaks resulted in a drug possession arrest early Monday morning.

Around 7 a.m., on December 2, 2024, a Webb County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a Chrysler 200 and conducted a search, uncovering:

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Uriel Gutierrez, was arrested and charged with drug possession.

The investigation is ongoing.

Man fights for his life after weekend stabbing, neighborhood residents fear for safety

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A late-night stabbing over the weekend has left a 50-year-old man in critical condition, prompting concerns among residents near Napoleon Street and South Canada Avenue.

Witness Recounts Frightening Scene

A woman who lives near the area, choosing to remain anonymous, described the harrowing moments she witnessed after stepping outside around midnight Saturday. “Since it was late, it’s dark,” she said. “We didn’t know if there was blood; we just saw him laying down on the ground.”

She recalled seeing another woman on the phone, likely calling 911, as she tried to speak to the injured man. “She was saying, ‘They stabbed him! They stabbed him!’ I don’t know if she knew him or not.”

Police Investigation Underway

According to Officer José Espinoza with the Laredo Police Department, officers responded to the scene and found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper body.

“When officers arrived on scene, they located a male victim, age 50, with possible stab wounds to his upper extremities. He was transported to a local hospital and later flown to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition.”

Community Concerns

The stabbing occurred near an elementary school, raising safety concerns among local parents.

“I’m worried about my kids and the other children in the neighborhood,” said a local mother. Police continue to investigate, speaking to witnesses and reviewing any available surveillance footage.

No Arrests Made

New video shows Thanksgiving Day shooting in Laredo

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - New footage has surfaced of a shooting that occurred on Thanksgiving Day near Eistetter and Logan Avenue.

In the video, a red car is seen driving by and parking in the middle of the street, followed by gunshots. Moments later, Laredo police report that a victim of the shooting checked into a local hospital and underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

No arrests have been made, and the case remains under investigation.

Alberto Torres reflects on time in Laredo City Council

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - On Monday, December 2, the regular Laredo City Council meeting will mark the final time Alberto Torres will attend as District Four’s representative.

After eight years in office, Torres expressed gratitude to his constituents for their trust and support during his two terms.

Reflecting on his time in public service, Torres highlighted his collaboration with 19 council members, two mayors and eight city managers, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in advancing Laredo’s growth.

As he looks back on his legacy, Torres shared what he considers his most significant accomplishments.

Mentioning, “A lot of the projects that I’m proud of, most especially is the Lyon Water Tanks project, a $20,000,000 project that brings, water to Central Laredo, parts of North Laredo and South Laredo. The Buena Vista Sports Complex is a big accomplishment that I’m proud of with my colleagues, as well as, different projects of sidewalks that we did in the in the district.”

November’s General Election for District Four resulted in a runoff between Tannya Benavides and Rick Garza.

The runoff election is currently set for Saturday, December 14.

Shots fired after patron asked to leave food park

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Chaos breaks out at a North Laredo food park overnight.

According to the Laredo Police Department, it happened at about two Thursday morning when a customer was asked to leave the Golondrina Food Park in the 10,000 block of Golondrina Drive.

We’re told the suspect got into his vehicle and began driving erratically in the business' parking lot. It’s said he allegedly tried to run a security guard over, who pulled a gun and opened fire.

It is believed the man drove himself to a nearby medical facility for treatment to his wounds.

The case is currently under investigation.

As of Thursday, November 28th, there have been no official charges filed, but that may change once more evidence is collected for the District Attorney’s Office to review, and if deadly force was warranted.

Two men arrested in Webb County for driving stolen pickups, Webb County Sheriff’s Office says

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Webb County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men in separate traffic stops on Wednesday, November 27, after discovering both were driving stolen pickup trucks.

The incidents occurred along Highway 59. Deputies stopped a blue GMC pickup, reported stolen by the Pasadena Police Department, and identified the driver as 20-year-old Jose Alejandro Diaz.

In a separate stop, deputies pulled over a grey Chevrolet pickup reported stolen from Houston, Texas. The driver of that truck was identified as 19-year-old Moises De Luna.

Both men were arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a State Jail Felony. They were transported to the Webb County Jail for booking and processing.
